Position Description

A total joint orthopedic practice in Alpharetta and Buford, Georgia, is actively seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant specializing in orthopedics for a 3-month locum assignment. This role involves providing comprehensive care to patients undergoing total knee and total hip replacement surgeries.

About the Opportunity:

  • Contract Type: Locum Tenens
  • Contract Dates: January 1, 2026 - March 31, 2026
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Setting: Outpatient Clinic
  • Patient Volume: 15 patients or less per day
  • Practice Call: Required 1 week every 4th week (no other on-call)
  • Overtime: Paid after 24 hours daily (Fixed) and after 40 hours weekly (Fixed)

Responsibilities:

The Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Providing care and management for post-operative total knee and total hip replacement patients.
  • Conducting evaluations and preparing pre-operative patients for surgery.
  • Performing follow-up patient examinations and assessments.
  • Administering cortisone injections.
  • Accurately reading and interpreting X-rays.

Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
  • Experience in Orthopedics, preferably with a focus on total joints (total knee and total hip).
  • Ability to manage a surgical patient caseload from pre-op through follow-up.
  • Proficiency in performing joint injections.
  • Excellent clinical judgment and assessment skills.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience managing high-volume orthopedic clinic patients.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a surgical team.
