State of the Chapter
Posted over 9 years ago by Jodi Roberts
Greetings!
I really do not know where to start as there is so much happening now! So, I thought I would start with our chapter. In keeping with the the recent State of the Union and State of the State addresses, I would like to provide a "State of the Chapter!Currently, we have 66 paid members and 350 non-members. Non-members can include members from other chpaters, organizations within the enpnetwork, and certainly other professionals in Cobb/Cherokee who have not chosen to be paid members. We continue to meet monthly at dinner meetings supported/sponsored by a pharmaceutical company. We have participated in a food donation campaign in the last year. We also saw a local community provide support in the form of a proclamation at National Nurse Practitioner Week. Thank you, City of Marietta and Mayor Tumlin! We are beginning to connect with the community and certainly wish to see this grow.
Chapter leadership is now changing and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to some new faces on the board. However, before I do this, I would like to say a heart felt and resounding THANK YOU to Linda Gay as she steps down from the Vice-President position! Linda has been responsible for scheduling our dinners, keeping us organized, and introducing our food collection campaign. We appreciate all her efforts. Linda, we plan to see you at our meetings and hope you will continue to be an active member in our group! Additionally, Rhonda Randall has stepped down as Secretary, and we say thank you to her participation, as well. Thus, we will see two new faces on the board in 2016. After announcing these changes at the end of last year, we have had two excited and very enthusastic members step up and into these important positions. We welcome Katherine Harper as your new Vice-President and Kim Naab as your new Secretary! Please take the opportunity to introduce yourself as the upcoming meetings. Hyacinth Crooks will remain as your treasurer and I will remain as your president, at least for one more year! We are all very excited as we move into the new year!
As previously announced, I have authorized and made a donation to CAPRN. For those of you unfamiliar, CAPRN is the Coalition of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses here in Georgia. This organization unites APRN organizations throughout the state of GA with the goal of advancing health for all Georgians. Please see http://caprn.org CAPRN has hired a well-experienced lobbyist who is representing APRN's at the Capital. Further information to follow. The money we provide as an organization helps to pay for the lobbyist, among others. Cobb/Cherokee UAPRN chapter donated $700.00.
The next meeting will take place on Thursday, Feb. 11, so save the date. The invitation will be released shortly. RSVP quickly as this will be a "do not miss" opportunity! Your board will meet prior and will lay out a plan for the next year. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please let us know that we may include in our planning meeting. Comments have been enabled that you may easily respond as your read this message.
Well, that is the "State of the Chapter!" We hope you will join us in 2016 as continue to enhance and promote our professional visibilty and provide opportunites for our members to network and create new realtionships!
Best regards,
Jodi Roberts, FNP-BCPresident, Cobb/Cherokee Chapter
