Happy Nurses Week

Posted over 5 years ago by Kim Naab

Today, May 6th, kicks off Nurses Week and will end on May 12th, Florence Nightingale's 200th birthday.  This year, 2020, has also been designated by the WHO as the "Year of the nurse and midwife".  And here we are...fighting a pandemic, figuring this virus out on a daily basis, working in healthcare settings with "policies" that are changing daily...and I could not be more proud to be a part of the most trusted profession on earth!

Some in our field have said this "virus" is not what they signed up for, and in all honesty none of us did, but the "unknown" has never stopped us and never will. We continue the fight daily and our efforts have made a real difference in the lives of our patients, our coworkers, and our communities.  It takes courage, committment, and old-fashioned "grit" to do what we do...and each and everyone of you are making an impact that will have a rippling effect for years to come.

This week is for you...to honor you and recognize your contribution to this amazing profession. Thank you for your bravery and dedication to our nursing profession. Thank you for getting up each day and continuing the fight...you all are amazing!
