Cobb/Cherokee Update

Good day, colleagues and friends!
At the last several meetings, the board has identified several goals we believed were important towards furthering our professional fulfillment, visibility, and legislative participation. Unfortunately, reaching each APRN at our monthly meetings is not possible. Therefore, we will repeat those goals and share ideas to further said goals on this website.
Goals
1. Increase professional communication and networking among all APRN's within the local community.
2. Increase visibilty within the local community.
3. Provide local opportunities for continuing education.
4. Increase legislative activity and participation within the chapter.
5. Assist with locating preceptor's for our student members.
We would like to inform you of several opportunites we have identified to further our work towards those goals.
1. Professional Communication/Networking- Based on your feedback, we are creating a resource/referral list to be made available on this website. We would like this list to serve two purposes. First, as source of referrals. As an APRN, I enjoy referring to my colleagues. I also appreciate referrals from my colleagues. A list of professionals to whom we could refer could be beneficial for all. Second, this list would also serve as a resource. Occasionally, we all may have a question that is beyond our expertise. Having someone to call or text with a question can be an immeasurable addition to our practice. This addition could do much to strengthen our practice and our professional relationships.
The board member responsible for this will be Rhonda Randall. Please contact her at rhondabaldwinnp@yahoo.com with your name, specialty, and contact information if you wish to be included. Additionally, you may respond with a comment to this announcement with same information. I highly encourage you to participate!
2. Increased Visibility-An opportunity to provide health screening at a local festival, Nibble and Noshfest, has been identified. It will take place over the Labor Day weekend in East Cobb. It is local, limited in size, and would be an welcome addition to the festival. The idea is to screen BP, glucose, cholesterol and weight. We will highlight APRN's, provide a giveaway and have a drawing for those who visit our booth. We will need supplies donated and volunteers to man the booth. Please take a look: http://noshfest.com/landing.aspx?id=63&Page=home
We need you help to make this happen! Please contact Hyacinth Crooks at hicrooks@yahoo.com or respond with a comment to this announcement.
3. Continuing Education-We are interested in providing CME on a quarterly basis. Ideally, 1-2 hours per quarter. However, we need someone who has experience in developing/obtaining the accreditation needed. If you have experience or would like to gain the experience, please contact Jodi Roberts at jopersis@comcast.net or Linda Gay at lindalgay@gmail.com.
4. Legislative participation-Quiet on this currently, but we would like a chair or contact who can help to develop ideas and encourage greater participation. If you are interested, please contact Jodi Roberts at jopersis@comcast.net or Linda Gay at lindalgay@gmail.com.
5. Preceptors-We are receiving requests frequently for preceptors and we need your help! We would like to develop a list of willing preceptors to assist these students in identifying the experience they need. We have all been there, so it truly is a professional obligation to help. If you are able and willing to particpate or serve as a point person on this need, contact Jodi Roberts jopersis@comcast.net or Linda Gay at lindalgay@gmail.com
We appreciate your reading through this lengthy announcement and certainly appreciate your willingness to increase your participation in this professional organization. Please note, comments have been enabled and you may respond at any time. The time is now! We look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Jodi Roberts, President
