Greetings, Fellow APRNs!

We are looking forward to seeing some of you at the Wednesday dinner meeting.  November 4th at 6:30 pm at Fish Thyme in Acworth, we will be hearing from the always informative and entertaining Dr. Myerson!  If you have never had opportunity to hear Dr. Myerson speak, you are in for a treat!  However, we will also have some business to address, so be prepared.

First, we will have the honor to be present as Lisa Marie Walsh (one of Cobb/Cherokee members) is presented with a scholarship from UAPRN-GA.  Congratulations, Lisa Marie!  We will look forward to hearing some of your academic pursuits.

With us, will also have Janet Ross, our AANP regional representative.  She is traveling the state to share the Nurse Practitioner Week Proclamation signed recently by Governor Deal.  Prepare to have your picture taken with this important document!  States, communities, and employers all across the nation are preapring to acknowledge the importance of nurse practitioners next week and Georgia is no exception!  There are efforts underway currently to include Cobb/Cherokee communities such as the City of Marietta and the City of Kennesaw.  If you wish to participate with these cities, please contact me for Marietta and Kathy Harper at kathyharper5@gmail.com.  We would love to see more representation, so if you want would like guidance in approaching communities such as Smyrna, Acworth, Woodstock and Canton, please let us know.

Speaking of Nurse Practitioner Week!  While we know not all of our members are Nurse Practitioners, we celebrate all advanced practice registered nurses.  What have you done to bring this to your employer's attention?  I hope to have materials to share that may help you to do so.

Additionally, we are gearing up for elections for the Cobb/Cherokee Board.  Positions opening include vice-president and secretary.  If you have a particular interest in serving, please contact one of the current board members.  We plan to vote in December and install in January.

There is one more item for consideration.  I would like to begin the discussion on what we can do as a chapter with our grassroots efforts to enhance our professional practice in this state.

Finally, bring any and all job opportunities.  Someone is always looking!

Best,

Jodi Roberts, President, UAPRN of GA, Cobb/Cherokee Chapter
